The VW California. Its a transporter van with:

1. Camper conversion (sleeps 4, comes with kitchen)

2. 180 hp 2.0l TDI

3. 4Motion AWD

Yes, it would be stupid expensive. Yes, even with the big engine its slow (12.8 seconds to 60). Yes, the market would be limited. SHUT UP AND GIVE ME!

The people who have the space next to mine in our underground parking garage have one (probably without 4x4). I hate them for that. Their space has a wall on the other side and they have surfboards that haven't been used in 15 years hanging on that wall. So with that panzer they have to park juuuuuuust exactly on the line.

I get the appeal, and I own & love Vanagons. But I promise you, the Eurovan is a heinous piece of crap, and this is similar enough that I can practically guarantee it is too, or will be by the time it's a few years old. For the money people spend on these things, you could get into a Sprinter camper.

I agree with the Eurovan being crap (at least the T4 was) but I suspect that by the time the T6 gets around to being made (its due now) it will be better, and they could build it with the idea of being sold here too. Frankly, I think VW ought to at least consider bringing the transporter line over and having it be built here.

I think you missed the VW Transporter Rockton. Should make for a better base to throw the California enhancements at (c.f. pic #4)

There's seemingly tons of conversions for these.

Don't be contented with less than a T5 able to drive on- and offroad!
